Exercising while Nursing - Can I workout while nursing?

Posted by Dana Marie on Monday, July 18, 2011, In : Mom Tips
The answer is yes. I have had four kids and nursed all of them until they were a year old. After giving birth I waited about 4-6 weeks before I started working out. The best thing to do is nurse or pump and then do your workout. You will feel better jumping around and your baby will be happy. Also make sure to have a good supportive sports bra.

What to do if you can't do ab workouts or sit ups

Posted by Dana Marie on Friday, June 24, 2011, In : Mom Tips
What to do if you can't do ab workouts. If you are unable to do ab workouts for some reason I would recommend using a Electronic Muscle Stimulation. As an extra precaution after having my last baby, before I was ready to start working out I started using the Slendertone Belt. Slendertone uses Electronic Muscle Stimulation (EMS) technology to create strong, deep, comfortable contractions in your muscles. It mimics the body's natural muscle movements; signals are sent between the pads, engaging...

How to workout if your muscles are separated after having children

Posted by Dana Marie on Friday, June 24, 2011, In : Mom Tips

How to workout if your muscles are separated after having children. After having children I have what is called Diastasis Recti (this is where your abdominal muscles split in two). Having this made me wander if I could do p90x and especially the ab ripper. I decided to do the P90x and ab ripper anyway but tried to take it easy until I felt more comfortable. The one thing I do recommend if you have this, is a waist trimmer belt. No matter what workout I am doing I always wearing the waist trim...

Postpartum How long to wait before starting P90X

Posted by Dana Marie on Friday, May 27, 2011, In : Mom Tips
It is hard to know when to start working out after having a baby. The recommended time is six weeks. For me, after each child was different. I waited 4 - 6 weeks before starting any workout program but to get me ready in the between times I would walk. However it is important to not to do to much to soon you must let your body heal otherwise you will end up hurting yourself and having to wait longer to get back to normal. The main thing is to listen to your body. When you think you are ready ...

Doing PX90 Postpartum with split abdominal muscles

Posted by Dana Marie on Friday, May 27, 2011, In : Mom Tips
After four kids my abs have taken a beating. I have what is called rectus diastasis meaning my abs are split. If you have this problem you know what I am talking about. Because of this I wear a waist trimmer belt to help hold my abs together while I workout. It also aids in the weight loss around my waist. If you have rectus diastasis I definatly recommend you get a waist trimmer belt to prevent more damage I also recommend you ask your doctor before doing any exercise.  ...

Dana MarieI am a stay at home mother of 4 children eight and under. There is not a lot of extra time to go to the gym and working out. So I do my workouts at home. There are a ton of workout videos to choose from when it comes to working out at home and I am one to try them all. I had my fourth child in April of 2009. Two months after having him, I decided to do the p90x lean program. I started out doing it everyday, but having four kids at home I was limited to 3 times a week. So while it took me longer than 90 days I still saw results. In the beginning I could do absolutely no push ups or pull ups; I could not make it through the whole video doing everything properly; I could not do and still have a hard time doing the Ab Ripper, but I try to be careful since my abs are split from having children. While doing p90x I lost 15 pounds. I went down 3 or 4 pant sizes. I am definitely stronger and leaner. I can actually do push ups now after doing the p90x. I am still not where I want to be, but that is why I keep pushing play. Now I also do some Insanity, and have also done Billy's Boot Camp. I like to mix it up, but my favorite is the P90x.
